Jeremy Smith got his first drumset at the early age of four. Being brought up in a musical household his father and uncle inspired him to begin performing with their band by the age of seven. He began playing on weekends with this band until about the age of eleven.
By age 12, Jeremy enrolled in junior high school band class where he auditioned and was accepted into the Jass band for two years. He also began learning all aspects of music as well as learning guitar. He formed a band in high school which went on to win two talent shows as well as playing a few gigs here and there. Jeremy enjoyed co writing songs with the band and making home recordings but still felt unfulfilled.
So at the age of 17, Jeremy moved to Orlando, Florida and attended Full Sail Center for the Recording Arts. After graduating he went behind the scenes and landed an internship which eventually resulted in him being the lead sound engineer for the Cheyenne Saloon at Church Street Station in Orlando. While there he had the opportunity to mix several national acts. Stephen Stills, the Allman Brothers Band, and Travis Tritt to name a few.
With three years of live sound experience, Jeremy left the engineering job to pursue his drumming career once again. At age 21, he got a passport and took a cruise ship gig for several months. He traveled to Europe and the Caribbean with the Herb Williams band Gibraltar. While there he studied music and guitar with John Steamer Adams. This lasted until March of 1993.
After a mutual parting of the ways with this project, Jeremy played in various bands back in Orlando for a few months. After getting tired of the routine bar gigs, he decided to take a step back to re-evaluate his musical direction. Part of this included not only focusing more on his drumming, guitar, and song writing skills but also to focus on getting a gig with a signed artist.
In 1994 Jeremy began playing with country artist Ravyn Dixon who was signed with Ranch Records out of Lufkin, Texas. While in the band he began co writing with Ravyn and eventually playing guitar and singing back up vocals for a brief time. Two singles from this project received air play - not only in the Texas region, but also rose to the top of the international charts. This led to a festival circuit tour and some local television performances.
After leaving Texas 1995, Jeremy began working for Jeff Holland where he was able to stay busy playing a range of music from classic 60's and 70's hits, to pop 80's, to the sounds of the late 90's. After six years with Jeff, Jeremy started taking on side projects in his spare time.
In early 2000, Jeremy started working with Terry Mike Jeffrey out of the Memphis, Tennessee area. This band finally put him in a situation where he was able to perform many different styles of music that would be popular to the masses while at the same time would challenge his drumming skills. This is also where he was introduced to performing members of Elvis' TCB Band.
For the past 9 years Jeremy has been performing on the casino circuits with Terry on a regular basis as well as many other artist in the Memphis area. He has done numerous concerts with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra and doesn't offend the string section. Jeremy’s style draws on all his influences that span over 50 years of music. His aggressive and versatile approach to performance, along with a great sounding set of Ludwigs, enables him to appeal to all music fans. Jeremy has established himself as one of Memphis’ hardest working drummers.
